Gentoo Linux 2005.1-r1
Gentoo razvojni tim nije objavio novo izdanje sistema već samo osveženje 2005.1 izdranja (media refresh), koje u stvari nosi isti base snapshot samo sa počišćenim bagovima. Ovo se izdanje može nazvati "privremeni dodatak" dok se zvanično ne pojavi 2006.0. PackageCD 2005.1 je se i dalje može koristiti, jer nije pretrpeo nikakve izmene. Ovde se takođe nalazi i novi x86 i AMD64 Gentoo Linux Installer LiveCD lociran u direktorijumu /experimental. Gentoo is great Linux. For years I was using Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, OpenSuse, but there's something sicapel about Gentoo. I had another distro for several months, but it had some serious problems with my video card, so I was stuck in low graphics mode until I found this set. I received the set and started the installation in 2 minutes after opening it. The installation is simple and straightforward. It is really simple. I remember struggling with various Linux installations in 2005, 2006 but this thing just shows one screen after another and runs in full graphical mode. It set all my hardware, including sound and 3D acceleration on video. It is also unbelievably beautiful and looks like a thing from high-end spy movies! Isn't nice not to worry about viruses and not paying for antivirus? I find my computer runs almost twice as fast now. I was thinking about having it with windows in double boot configuration, but after two months, as I ever needed windows since, I removed windows completely. For general computer use Gentoo is great. I do some digital photography, not professionally, but as an advanced amateur, and included tools, editors are very cool. It is very neat system, quality set, recommended!
